Remote Working Part 1 – How to guide – Introduction
Obviously not everybody is able to work remotely as there are some types of work that require workers to be at their employers premises or travel to perform their tasks in person. But for those of us are allowed to work remotely then I thought it would be useful to share my experiences and share some practical directions by writing and publishing it on the net with the sole objective of providing useful shortcuts for adapting to remote working or supervising remote workers.
I can tell you that there are many self proclaimed ‘gurus’ online who will try and make you purchase videos for substantial sums of cash, take my word for it you don’t have to do this.
I am privileged to be allowed to work anywhere I choose and just about everybody who asks me what job I do wants to learn how I am able to work remotely. Don’t be mislead here I am still improving the science of remote working as each day I meet folks on the web who teach me new ways and I am constantly discovering new technologies and methods that make my life easier and make me more effective.
During the past 7 years I have significantly adapted my working processes to allow me to do all of my work remotely with a selection of online tools and robust self discipline. One late night whilst exploring the net I found Quickbooks online and this made me think about what just might be possible. The encounter with online ‘on demand’ small business accounting software was a significant event for me and the start of my ‘remote working history.
